A Strength & Conditioning (S&C) Coach & Physio combines athletic performance enhancement with injury prevention/rehab, designing programs to build strength, speed, and power while safely managing player readiness, injury recovery, and return-to-play protocols, working integrated with medical teams, tracking progress, teaching technique, and adapting training for in-season/off-season needs.

 

Core Purpose:

To optimize athlete physical development, performance, and longevity by seamlessly integrating physiotherapy principles with strength and conditioning science, ensuring safe and effective training across all phases of an athlete's career. 

 

Responsibilities:

• Assessment & Program Design: Conduct physical assessments, identify strengths/weaknesses, and design individualized S&C programs (strength, power, speed, agility, endurance, flexibility).

• Injury Management & Rehab: Work with medical staff on rehab protocols, progress athletes from injury to return-to-play, manage player load, and im plement injury mitigation strategies.

• Coaching & Technique: Teach correct lifting/movement patterns, provide constant feedback, and lead group/individual sessions. • Monitoring & Data: Track athlete performance, monitor fatigue, and use data to adjust programs, ensuring progress without overtraining.

• Team Collaboration: Work closely with coaches, athletic trainers, and other support staff to align training with team goals. • Education: Educate athletes on movement, recovery, lifestyle, and injury prevention.

• Research & Development: Stay current with best practices in S&C and sports medicine.

 

Qualifications:

• Degree in Exercise Science, Physiotherapy, or related field.

• Relevant S&C certifications (e.g., CSCS) and Physio license.

• Strong knowledge of anatomy, biomechanics, physiology.

• Excellent communication, leadership, and motivational skills.

• Experience in elite/high-performance sport is often required.

 

This role bridges the gap between injury treatment and peak performance, requiring deep expertise in both rehabilitation and physical preparation to keep athletes healthy and performing at their best.
